Service in the Florida State Senate

Service in the Florida State Senate In 2006, Ted made the decision to run for the Florida State Senate in the hopes he could help improve people's lives and further strengthen the South Florida community. Despite being a freshman member of the minority party in Tallahassee, State Senator Deutch proved himself a talented legislator by passing the nation's first law divesting state pension funds from companies whose business dealings supported Iran's illicit quest for nuclear weapons. He also passed legislation to reduce smoking in Florida and fund cancer research and health care services for Florida's most vulnerable residents. Ted also secured seed funding for the construction of the Weisman Center in Delray Beach that today serves so many seniors throughout our community.
